How do I buy and sell a used car from private sellers / buyers?

I live in Washington. I am selling my car, and I want to buy a used car from a private seller. How do I do the buying and selling process the right and lagit way?

Selling* If there is No lien against your car, simply sign your le, and collect the money. Cancel the car of your insurance. Done deal. However. If you still owe money on your car and they want to finance the rest of it, Bring the person you who wants your car to your or their bank Loan Dept. Make sure you have your financial papers the dealer gave you and tell them you want to p the loan to them. They will fill out a credit application out at the bank and hopefully get approved. Then you hand over your financial papers to the banker. The banker will tell them the new monthly payments, The car is still yours until that person signs. just like at a dealership. The entire process takes roughly 30 minutes. Remember* *Make sure they have valid insurance, the bank will check and will not finalize the deal until they do have it switched over. Do not hand over your keys until you see this, if they wreck it and it's still on your insurance, your kinda screwed. *The bank will most likely give them a loan for what the car is "actually" worth. meaning if you owe more than what the banker tells you, you or the person will have to cover the difference right there in credit card or cash. Buying* Cash, Find a car you like, give em' the cash. update your insurance company. done deal. Finance, Go to the bank. Tell them the Vehicle Identification Number "VIN" of the car that you want to buy. Tell them how much your buying the car for. Fill out a credit app, get approved.
