What would you think if you saw this at a used car dealership?
- because girls take good care of cars, they do not "get on it" and do stupid stuff in it, therefore it's a marketing tactic
- dumb joke maybe or maybe you were on some hidden camera show. HowieDoIt, Jamie Kennedy, Candid camera or something, i dunno lol
- alot of people use this method to sell a car, for some reason, they think if the car has had a woman owner it will not have been thrashed or mistreated
- that can go either way, a woman hits curbs, not notice gears, brake to hard, etc. or she can be a great driver and took care of the car. so driven by a woman was just another generalization
- I always have our cars in my wife's name. For whatever reason a buyer thinks a car has been looked after better and not abused by a female driver
- Not odd at all. Often times you see ads in the paper or online saying "driven by a lady" or "driven by senior citizen". This is just another marketing technique. However, I do not necessarily think that women take care of their cars better than men or they drive less violently. Not always true. In fact, 2 used cars we purchased from women owners turned out to be junk. The best thing to do is to test drive a car and take it to the independent mechanic who for $40 will check your car and print out a complete report for you as to what needs to be fixed. Also, do not forget to check carfax report
- I would not buy a car there. Not that I care one way or the other about whether the previous owner was a man or woman, because I always thoroughly inspect a car before purchasing. The issue for me would be that they mentioned it at all. I do not like gimmicky tactics. This dealer is resorting to confusing the issues, the real issue is if a car is mechanically sound. I take no comfort in knowing the previous owners' gender and anyone that does is a fool. Good luck
- women do not drive cars as hard as men do. Less aggressive shifting, acceleration, etc. I would ume that's the reason but I could be wrong
- That seems a little odd to me, as well. I would actually ask them if I were in your situation. They may want to consider changing their marketing approach. I do not want to appear to be sexist, but I very much disagree with another answerer that women are known for taking care of their cars. If I did not take care of my wife's car, then I do not know if she would ever get the oil changed on it, wash it, etc. Maybe she is just spoiled, but the general impression out there is that 90% of women do not know how to maintain a vehicle. Not saying it is right, but it is what it is
- Women drive more careful clean cars more often women do not do maintenance I would prefer the sticker to say "Adult Driven" or "Kid Driven"
- It's funny, some think that female drivers are easier on their car than males. Sometimes yes, but many times, women are hard on cars, they have so much to do, that the car takes a back seat in terms of maintenance. As a matter of fact, if i did not clean my wifes car, it would never get cleaned. It's been agreed upon that I am in charge of the cars, well, not agreed, i guess i was just told that. But otherwise, she just would not have the time to do it. Some people also think that the grandma car is the best you can get, well, not really. Some really old folks hit plenty of things, shun maintenance, and wait until they see the screws on the stop sign before braking. I would think "what a moron, this guy thinks this will make me buy the car"
- They could be listing it that way for safety reasons because if it was a stolen car, or the car had been damaged, or the car has any past history they could tell if the person who signed for the car what sex it was some girl's have guys names and vise versa
- sexist
- ive been on the market for a motorcycle lately, and they put alot of emphasis on the fact that a bike has been female - ridden as well. as well as whether or not a bike has been adult - ridden. i ume it has to do with driving habits
- probly this dealership thinks women do not kno anything about cars and if they do not kno anything about cars then the car was probly poorly taken care of
- driving habits is why. women generally do not maintain the engine but usually keep it clean
- umm not trying to sexist or anything but women tend to not take care of the car as much
